Where do you want to explore in the Upper Peninsula this spring?

Spring is slowly coming.  I think we’re all eager to enjoy the warmer weather, get out our bikes, kayaks, or just a lawn chair and lemonade.

With all this in mind, I’d simply like to ask…

What new places do you want to explore in the Upper Peninsula this spring?  Leave a comment and let me know.

Perhaps you’d like to explore a…

  • Museum
  • Waterfall
  • Bike trail
  • New town
  • Hidden beach
  • And the list goes on…

Whatever it is that you’re looking to explore this spring in the Upper Peninsula, leave a comment and I’ll compile a list of all the great places readers are looking to visit.

When my hubby gets home from Iraq, we will be heading up north to the U.P. staying in Curtis visiting family and over in Rapid River for some fishing.

We was there last summer and took our kids all over the place.

I would love to know where there are some waterfalls, other than the Upper and Lower Taq (can’t remember how to spell it) falls.

Also are there some good places to get Pasties on U.S. 2 other than in Brevort (that Jeanie’s place is awesome).. thanks so much.

I’m looking to check out some water falls and towns that I have not been to yet since I came to the UP 3 years ago.

Grand Island – near Munising I believe. It actually has a good size lake on it. I talked to
a guy when I was Ice Fishing one winter whose
family had owned it. He had a dog that would pull his sled out to his ice shack. I sure did alot of
ice fishing in Munising Bay. Be sure to take the
boat ride to view the shore line.

    Hi,
I my sister and I are in our early 20′s and looking to camp and tour the upper peninsula in late June. Do you have any suggestions? We are looking for beach and water activities, as well as beautiful nature and hiking. I’d also be interested in some caving and mining excursions.

    Thanks,
    Heather

    Heather,

For being in your early 20s are you also looking to go out at night and things like that? If so staying in Houghton or Marquette is a great idea and you can leave from there each day to go exploring. Lots going on, both college towns.

On the stretch between Big Bay and Munising there are some fantastic beaches. Some great locations in and near Marquette, but you can also find some more remote locations for camping near Au Train and along Big Bay Road.

I hope you like cold water!

Lots of great hiking along that area as well. The North Country Trail runs along Lake Superior for most of that stretch.

I’ll have to do some research on caves, as most caves I know of are ice caves!

Feel free to shoot a message over and we can talk further.
