A couple of towns from the eastern end that didn’t make your list: Dafter, where the residents were “dafter” than most; and Detour. I used to wonder why all the road signs for Detour always said “Detour Village,” until I realized that if the signs just said “Detour,” it would be a very popular town indeed.

I was thinking the same thing about Detour but then I spent K-8th grade in that town. Also, why is Goetzville pronounced Gatesville? Escanaba? Does that mean something odd in native american that hasn’t been shared with the rest of us?
Spent a long cold rainy weekend in Christmas 3 years ago..cute little town!

Bumbletown, in the Keweenaw or abouts, population 46 (at least that’s what the sign says).
