31 Upper Peninsula books to add to your reading list

Whether you’re reading up on the history of the Upper Peninsula or looking for some new places to explore this year, it’s always a good idea to have a few Upper Peninsula books lying around. I recent received the Upper Peninsula Almanac as a gift. Great work by Ron Jolly and Karl Bohnak. I’ve been keeping it on my coffee table and pick it regularly to read just a few pages at a time and always learn some new things I didn’t know about the Upper Peninsula.

They’ve been around a while, but all the Northwoods Readers by Cully Gage are great! Full of short stories based on early 20th century life in the U.P.

Also, check out Ander Monson’s Other Electricities: Stories. He’s a U.P. native, and these stories draw from that background. He also writes poetry and nonfiction. Ander Monson’s work should be on this list.

My next Yooper mystery, The Maze At Four Chimneys, comes out in about 30 days.
